Rev. Jan Curwick of the Office of Administrative Services announced on Tuesday that Sandra (Sandy) G. O’Brien has been hired as Comptroller/Assistant Treasurer for the Louisiana Annual Conference. She will begin work on May 19, 2014.
Sandy comes to the conference with more than 30 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant, including being the Managing Audit and Advisory Services Partner in an accounting firm, working as the Vice President of Finance in a large non-profit organization, and serving as an auditor with the Office of the Legislative Auditor. Sandy and her husband are long-time members of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
Rev. Elaine Burleigh, Chair of Council of Finance and Administration, stated, “We are excited that Sandy is coming to work for the Annual Conference and for the financial expertise that she brings. We look forward to future progress in helping not only the Annual Conference, but also local churches, implement the best practices for financial reporting and stability.”
