Response to flooding in Acadiana District

April 09, 2012

Torrential rains and subsequent flooding that affected parts of the Acadiana District on March 13 prompted Governor Jindal to declare a state of emergency for four parishes in Louisiana. The Conference Disaster Response Ministry is moving forward to offer help to residents in the areas around Carencro, Churchpoint, and south of Opelousas. More than 350 homes have been damaged by flood waters, and close to half of those residents will need some form of assistance.

This spring, local churches in Louisiana collected an amount of $12,418.14 to assist with the response to the flooding.
