Mission and Mercy Day

Saturday, May 21 is a day for your church to live out what it means to dedicate one's self to peace throughout the world, to the rule of justice and law among nations, and to individual freedom for all people of the world.

It's a chance to get your hands dirty, your boots wet, meet your church neighbors and to do so in the name of Jesus.

The Mission and Mercy Team of the Louisiana Conference is encouraging ALL congregations to use this day as an opportunity to make a difference in their communities.

Whether you get together to pick up trash in your church’s neighborhood or hold a voter registration drive, any and every event can and will make a difference.

Don’t know what to do?

The following United Methodist and Louisiana Conference websites have ideas that may work for your congregation:

You might also find ideas from other organizations that are committed to either of these issues.

So, mark your calendar, get your group together, and go make a difference!

And remember to take LOTS of pictures of your event and send to communications@la-umc.org for use in a Mission & Mercy Day highlight video to be shown at Annual Conference this year.

We want to see as many of the Louisiana Conference congregations as possible in action and making a difference in their churches, communities, cities, the state, the nation and the world.
