As Christians, we are called to love and serve our neighbors, whoever and wherever they may be. In the United Methodist Church, local churches can find resources and training they need for transformative mission experiences through United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM), a grass-roots organization that helps connect local churches with mission sites around the world. In this online workshop, we will look in more detail of who UMVIM teams are, what they do, and the next steps for local churches and team leaders.

Our leader for the Wednesday October 18th webinar is Karen Distefano. Karen is the South Central Jurisdiction UMVIM and Disaster Response Coordinator. She is a member of the Oklahoma Annual Conference where she has been a certified UMVIM Team Leader since 2000. She has led teams in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Mexico, Chile, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. She has been married to husband, Juan, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, for 29 years.
