Hispanic Ministries

The Hispanic/Latino Ministries of the Louisiana Conference are located primarily in the New Orleans area.  

1Love United Methodist Church, located in Kenner, La., is the result of a merger between the former El Mesias UMC and First UMC in Kenner . This congregation is in ministry to all persons within the area and is a multi-ethnic group of Christian believers who are committed to sharing the Gospel of Christ in the mission field surrounding the facilities within this diverse community. 

In addition, there is an Hispanic/Latino presence in the mid-city congregation of First Grace UMC. Once again, this faith community is multi-ethnic in its membership and ministry.

In addition to ministries related to praise, worship and growing disciples for Jesus Christ, these communities also assist with classes in ELC (English as a Second Language) and Spanish, immigration services and translation assistance.  Gretna UMC on the Westbank also participates in education and other related services. 

The Louisiana Conference  seeks to expand the Hispanic/Latino ministries throughout the Conference.  A task force is being formed that will prepare a conference plan for this purpose.
