How do you know you’re being called into vocational ministry?

Not everyone hears God calling their name like Samuel heard God calling his name – or some people is a gentle tug, a constant nudge stirring of their soul toward that call. It can be a little intimidating, or even down right scary to say you’re being called, but if you ask most people in vocational ministry, you’ll know the Holy Spirit is persistent. Eventually, you have to follow the call.

Maybe you’ve felt that nudging to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to the world on a Sunday morning sitting in the pew. Maybe you’ve felt that call since high school, but never thought vocational ministry was for you. Maybe you’ve doubted your call, felt too scared to follow it, or didn’t know how to begin. If you are ready to explore what that call might be, we want to invite you to join us at Called: A Discernment Retreat February 24-26 at the Wesley Center in Woodworth, Louisiana.

Question?

This Discernment Retreat is an opportunity created for people considering entering into vocational ministry. Vocational ministry is any church or para-church work. People serving in vocational ministry include children and youth ministers, spiritual formation and adult discipleship directors, full-time and part-time pastors, healthcare and military chaplains, professional counselors and many more. There are so many ways to live into God’s calling.

If you think you might be called into vocational ministry, we hope you can join us for the Discernment Retreat. You and others discerning their call will hear from pastors serving in the local church and clergy serving beyond the walls, as well as from lay people serving in professional ministry. We will center ourselves in worship and spend time in small groups and in personal reflection as we listen for where God is calling us.
