The Louisiana Conference is seeking an Associate Director of Congregational Transformation and New Church Development.
This dynamic person will work alongside the Director of Congregational Transformation and New Church Development to provide leadership and oversight to the ministry of the Church Transformation Process and the ministry of developing and nurturing new faith communities.
"The transformation and start of new congregation continues to be a priority for the Louisiana Annual Conference," says Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey. "Our vision is to create vibrant, vital and alive congregations that make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The addition of an associate director will help us enhance that vision and accelerate the possibilities for the transformation of our churches and of the communities they serve."

This person will also assist and coordinate the ministry of revitalization for town and country churches and for African-American churches, and work with other churches in the Legacy Church Process.
Rev. Gloria Fowler serves as Director of Congregational Transformation and New Church Development for the Louisiana Conference and since her arrival a year ago, she has seen churches all across the connection energized by the resources provided by her office in efforts to multiply churches and to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
"Currently, 15 churches are in our pilot group for the Church Transformation Process," she says. "More than five churches are in the process of launching new faith communities. Besides these, there are many other initiatives in the works and a number of churches waiting to be part of the Church Transformation Process next year. Because of this overwhelming response, we are excited to announce that we are opening a second chair position for this area of ministry, to increase our capacity to better resource our churches and to expand the Kingdom of God in Louisiana."
This new position is made possible because of the strong partnership of the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana and the Conference office. The Foundation has agreed to fund this endeavor in a significant way for five years on a declining scale.
"Rev. Fowler has built great momentum in her role as Director of Congregational Transformation and New Church Development," says Rob Fairly, President of the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana. "The ability to hire an associate director will only energize that effort. The Foundation’s mission is to be a catalyst in supporting the United Methodist Church in our Conference, and providing support to this position fits that criteria.”
"I am so grateful for the Foundation's generosity," Rev. Fowler says. "It is my hope that through the expansion of this ministry, we will see churches transformed and multiplied, and we will be known throughout the connection for our turnaround stories and church multiplication models. God is doing great things in the Louisiana Conference, and I am so grateful to be part of God’s movement!"
