Worship Leader

Reports to: Pastor Supervises: Music Status: Salaried Primary Role: The primary role of the Worship Leader is to facilitate an excellent, inspiring worship experience for all generations & an effective, high-quality spiritual growth experience. Worship must be engaging and relevant while fully utilizing talent and commitment of many volunteers. Lead weekly congregational worship with an engaging and inspiring presence, in-person worship and/or online ensuring that worship is aligned with our church’s mission and vision Continually update/improve the song list with current, singable music from contemporary worship trends Define the weekly, monthly, & quarterly plans for weekend worship celebrations including music selections, music team scheduling, tech needs, etc. Recruit, train, and equip servant leaders (volunteers) for media, sound, video, live stream, etc Collaborate with the Pastor and other ministry leaders to create opportunities for hearts to be transformed through worship · Develop and communicate standards of excellence with all band and choir members · Lead worship for all special worship celebrations such as Easter, Christmas, Lent, Advent, etc. · Cultivate and nurture the band and choir(s), both spiritually and relationally by empowering others to effectively lead alongside you from the platform · Create rotations to nurture and effectively utilize the creative gifts and talents of all band and choir volunteers and hopeful members · Implement service order · Lead worship in various formats (contemporary, traditional, special services, etc) · 1. Creativity and Innovation: Generates new ideas; makes new connections among existing ideas to create fresh approaches; takes acceptable risks in pursuit of innovation; learns from mistakes; has good judgment about which creative ideas and suggestions will work. · 2. Influencing Others: Encourages others to cooperate, participate, provide resources or make decisions, in service to the work at hand; uses verbal and nonverbal skills to communicate respect for others, and to generate energy, passion and commitment to an idea; creates an environment that others want to participate in. · 3. Self-Development: Sets appropriate personal work objectives, measures own progress, identifies personal gaps in knowledge, understanding and skill; undertakes appropriate activities to develop needed skills; seeks regular feedback on performance; knows personal strengths and weaknesses, is sensitive to changing personal and organizational requirements and changes accordingly. · 4. Team Orientation: demonstrates interest, skill and success in team environments; promotes group goals ahead of personal agendas; steps up to offer self as a resource to other members of the team; understands and supports the importance of teamwork; shares credit for success with others, takes responsibility for his or her part in team failures. · 5. Teambuilding: Blends people into teams when appropriate; leads the team successfully through difficulties and challenges, including conflict, diversity and inclusion issues within the team; creates strong morale and spirit in his/her team; shares wins and successes; defines success in terms of the whole team; creates a feeling of belonging and pride in the team. EVALUATION: THERE IS A 90 DAY PROVISIONARY PERIOD AT THE INITIATION OF EMPLOYMENT. The Worship & Spiritual Life Director is expected to: · Submit annual goals. · Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor and annually with the Senior Pastor/SPRC to evaluate job performance, growth and quality of the contemporary music program. The job description may be amended at any time. All changes will be communicated in writing prior to implementation.
