JOB DESCRIPTION DIRECTOR OF FAMILY MINISTRIES – ST. MATTHEW’S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Position Summary: Primarily, this person will provide leadership and direction to the programs, activities, and faith development of children (infants through 5th grade) and youth (grades 6-12). This person will also establish and maintain lines of communication with other family members to engage them in other ministries of the church and provide effective Christian care and support to the whole family unit.

• Oversee all aspects of ministry to children, youth, and their families
• Establish a clear process for children and youth to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ
• Establish and oversee a process for family members of children and youth to connect and engage with other ministries of the church
• Equip parents with resources to help them embrace their role as the primary spiritual influence in their child’s life
• Train and equip volunteers to provide a safe and nurturing environment in line with Safe Sanctuary policy
• Oversee Christian education (Sunday School) and help leaders to select and order curriculum as needed
• Oversee community outreach events throughout the year, including Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, and summer youth activities.
• Keep regular office hours - at a minimum on Tuesday mornings from 9am-noon
• Gather and maintain up-to-date contact information and permission forms for all children and youth, share that information with other ministry leaders as appropriate Accountability: This position reports to the Senior Pastor Job Evaluation and Provisions
• It is a year-round, part-time position, based on 20 hours per week
• Salary to be determined based on experience, education, and other qualifications
•Salary and performance will be reviewed on an annual basis
• Vacation must be approved in advance by the Pastor
