Candidacy Summit
“Candidacy” is part of a lifelong spiritual journey of discerning God’s callings in our lives. The Candidacy Summit is a time for you to pause, gather and reflect with those who are also exploring a call and learn from those who have explored a call themselves.
The Candidacy Summit was designed to offer accurate and up-to-date information about the entire candidacy process.
For two days, at the Wesley Center in Woodworth, Louisiana, you will take the next faithful steps in the journey.
The Candidacy Summit is a time aside for individuals who have already discerned a calling into ministry, shared it with their Pastor and District Superintendent, and have been encouraged by them to take the next faithful step.
During the Candidacy Summit, new candidates for ministry begin the mentoring program, where they learn more about the ministerial avenues of Deacon, Elder, and Licensed Local Pastor. At the Summit participants learn about the psychological evaluation process, as well as other necessary steps of the candidacy process, while meeting other new candidates, mentors, and experienced Local Pastors, Deacons, and Elders. The Candidacy Summit differs from Pathways and the Discerner’s Academy, which is a time set aside to consider whether one may be called into ministry. The Louisiana Annual Conference looks forward to offering two Candidacy Summits in 2023. The next event will be in August. For now, we celebrate all sensing a call and encourage anyone with questions about becoming a minister to speak with their pastor about next steps.Candidacy Summit
