Magnolia UMC expands community partnerships

October 08, 2013

Magnolia United Methodist Church in Greenwell Springs is partnering with the Baton Rouge Home School Athletic Association by providing space for practices and home games for two of the association’s basketball teams. The "Eagles" are shown during practice in the church’s gymnasium. Rev. Lewis Morris, pastor, is shown with the basketball team, back row, left.

The teams join several other groups and organizations as part of the church's outreach program. One of the parish's oldest Alcohol Anonymous groups meets twice weekly at the church along with its affiliate Al-Anon group. An aerobics group, a yoga class and the Magnolia Artists also meet in church facilities. Each Saturday, the popular Magnolia Farmer's Market is held on the church campus.
