There are a number of institutions in the state that are associated with the church. In addition, the church has boards, commissions, and committees to help organize our ministries.

Statistics (from the 2005 Journal):

     Membership - 126,846
     Number of clergy - 610

The conference communicates to its membership through a conference newspaper - the LA Now! - and this website. The bishop also has an email list that is used to send out periodic messages. Each year, upon completion of the Annual Conference, a printed Journal is produced with reports, statistics, etc. on the state of the conference. A copy is sent to each member of Annual Conference. Much of the information is available prior to Annual Conference when the Pre-Conference Report is posted online each April.
The Louisiana Annual Conference is in the South Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church, in its present form, was established in 1968. It's roots as a denomination date back to the days of John Wesley in 18th century England.
