Hurricane Recovery

March 2006

United Methodist communicators of the South Central Jurisdiction came to Louisiana in March 2006 to see first-hand the effects of the 2005 hurricanes and what the church is doing to help the communities. These pictures illustrate some of the scenes from that visit. Some New Orleans churches are holding services as they did before Katrina. Some are beginning the clean-up as their communities are becoming repopulated. Some are facing a long and difficult recovery since not only the church facilities were devastated but the surrounding community is inhabitable for now. Check out the bishop's plan for rebuilding the New Orleans United Methodist churches.
