The Louisiana Annual Conference Board of Trustees' chief responsibility is property management. In other Conferences this involves all types of property but in Louisiana it is primarily concerned with discontinued and abandoned properties and the District parsonages.
Name : Board of Trustees of the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church , South Central Jurisdiction
Membership : The Board consists of twelve persons, one-third clergy, one-third laymen and one-third laywomen. Each of these are elected for four year terms which are staggered, with one-fourth elected each year (one from each category).
Officers : Annually, the Board elects a president, vice-president and secretary. The treasurer for the Louisiana Annual Conference also serves as the Board's treasurer.
Abandoned Properties : Once a District has followed the procedures in The Discipline and a property has been declared discontinued and abandoned the Conference Board of Trustees takes responsibility for any transfer of that property. However, the District Superintendent in the district where the property is located is responsible for recommending disposition of such property. A majority of the Conference Board of Trustees must approve any sale, donation, exchange or other legal transaction. The President of the Board of Trustees executes these documents on behalf of the Board.
Resolutions : Each year at Annual Conference, resolutions are prepared and presented by the Conference Board of Trustees either authorizing or ratifying dispositions of abandoned property.
