The Louisiana Conference has a contract to receive services from Percept , a demographics company. Their information is more detailed than the information from the Research division of The United Methodist Church. Each district has access to Percept 's services. While it will be used for overal district planning, check with your district office to see if they can access information for you.
If your church is serious about outreach to the community (and all churches should be), you may want to check out the other products they have to offer. Since our Conference is a client, the cost for an individual church to purchase their products is much cheaper.
Although Percept 's main products carry price tags, they do offer a free service that can give you a list of 10 basic facts and a six-page report on your zip code area. You just have to go to their Link2Lead.com website and fill out a few pieces of basic information.
If you find that you are looking for more detailed information on a geographic area you like (radius, ZIP Code or polygon), the next step might be Percept 's Ministry Area Profile . It is a 22 page document that includes 6 color InfoMaps.
If you are serious about learning about your community or may be looking into locations for new churches, the Context product by Percept provides you with a comprehensive comparison of your community and congregation. Context gives you 60+ pages of reports and a 6-page survey.
