Trinity Asian Chinese Ministry Summary
By Rev. Joseph Z. Guo
The goal of this ministry is to create and develop a faith community among the Asian Chinese in North Louisiana and to establish effective Asian ministry. We focus on bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and God’s message of abundant life to the non-religion and un-churched Asian Chinese, making disciples for Jesus Christ and equipping disciples for ministry.
It is always a joyful thing to see growth and fruits in our ministry and missional work. In the past 6 months, we have 11 persons profess their faith in Christ Jesus, 4 of them received baptism and joined Trinity UMC; Since September 2007 our Sunday Chinese worship averages 18 attendance; We are serving about 70 Asian Chinese in programs such as Bible study and fellowship, Conversational English class, Mandarin Chinese class and Open house fellowship. Now we have 13 families actively involved in our ministry and we receive financial support of $8,000 annually.
The most challenging parts in this ministry are: 1. To effectively make disciples out of the new Asian believers; and 2. To raise faithful leaders/ volunteers to serve together in this cross culture/ language ministry.
In 2008 our vision is to grow worship attendance and to nurture significant relational/ covenant groups. Our objectives are the following:
1. Build and grow covenant groups: To recruit and train 3 hosts/ sponsors who open their homes for bi-weekly fellowship gathering and Bible study. To build up trust level and nurture covenant relationship through caring ministry, fellowship gathering, and offering classes for languages and cultural exchange.
2. Recruit and grow 15 stable Chinese families; Increase our lay leaders, teachers and volunteers, and expand home and hospital visitation.
3. Grow Sunday Chinese worship to reach attendance of 30 weekly.
4. Also we plan to reach out and to minister to college students from Thailand, Burma (Myanmar) and Nepal
